LEYLANDS
There are three different crosses among species that are
sometimes referred to as Leylands. These three trees have different father trees
crossed to the same mother tree, Alaska-Cedar or Nootka Falsecypress. The influence of the mother’s characteristics
dominates all three species, so they look very similar to their mother, the
Alaska-Cedar.
LEYLAND CYPRESS
Father is Monterey Cypress from California.
There are eight varieties of Leylands
available. Leighton Green is the most
popular. It is an excellent Christmas tree,
lasting two months or longer without drying, if cared for properly and kept
watered at all times.
